Greetings,
A lot is being said about the planned Mosque and community center that may be build two blocks away from ground zero in Manhattan. President Obama has gone on record as saying that it is OK that they build it and I couldn't agree with him more. Something I don't often do. Former Senator Rick Santorum who represented Pennsylvania in the Senate told Fox News "He is ignoring the will of the American public". That may be the case but the President is fulfilling his duty and oath to defend the Constitution of the United States and he is following the will of our founding fathers who wanted freedom of religion in this country.
Former Senator Santorum said the community center would "desecrate the ground of those who were murdered by people who practice the faith, or at least an element of the faith, that is being represented by that mosque." Three thousand people lost their lives that day. It's probably a safe bet that some of them working in the trade centers where practicing Muslims. What about their sacrifice?
I'm a christian and an American patriot, both of these means that I should have understanding and compassion for others and their private lives or religious beliefs. The government has no business sticking their nose into who can buy property and what they put there. As long as it's done legally we need to worry about our own business and not that of others.
